Kelpies, or water kelpies, is the Scots name given to a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland. It is usually described as a horse, but is able to adopt human form (Wikipedia).

This handcut linoprint is based on my own drawing, hand printed onto good quality paper (220g white) using water based ink.

The print is 25cm (10 inches) by 20cm (8 inches) to fit in a standard frame. The frame is not included.

Each print comes in a cellophane sleeve with extra card to protect it. Your order will be sent in a card-backed envelop labelled "DO NOT BEND".

Printed in Aquamarine.

This print is inspired by Andy Scott's dramatic 30 meter horse head sculptures at the Forth&Clyde canal in Falkirk (Scotland). I've known Andy's work for a while but this one blew me away. Although the Forth&Clyde is usually calm and still, this is how I imagine the Kelpies will stir up the waves when they are shape shifting the stream.
