These beautiful handmade silver and resin earrings are inspired by the Jungle Book.
Two circular resin discs hang on long sterling silver wires. Set in the resin circles are my own drawings of Shere Khan the Tiger. The discs each have a small brass tube section in the centre, allowing them to spin freely on the earring wires; this gives the impression of the tigers running - chasing each other round and round!
The earring wires hang approximately 6cm downwards, and the discs measure 24mm diameter. These earrings are lightweight to wear so won't pull on your ears.
Care of your spinning Tiger earrings: You can polish your earrings to restore shine with a multipurpose household polish, I use Peek.
With a background in illustration, I have always loved stories and narrative, especially classic tales and fairy tales.
I'm also a massive fan of nature and animals, so the Jungle Book was the perfect combination to base a collection of jewellery on!
Inspired by the text, I created a series of drawings of Jungle Book characters to transform into jewellery. The moving element to this pair of earrings was a result of sketchbook doodles of a running tiger, which seemed to want to be in motion!
I wanted the collection as a whole to be made up of pieces that are beautiful in their own right, with a subtle extra layer of interest for those who choose to look closer. I didn't want their appeal to be solely the drawings or text, but also the construction and materials used to create each item.
