A cute pair of handmade round stud earrings featuring Hathi the Elephant from the Jungle Book. Circles of brass are filled with clear resin; set in the resin is my own drawing inspired by the Jungle Book.

The little elephant illustrations look like they are suspended in space as they sit in the centre of the clear resin studs.

These little elephant earrings measure just 8mm across, and 3mm deep. Finished with a sterling silver post and butterfly they won't irritate sensitive ears.

Care of your handmade brass earrings: You can polish your studs to restore shine with any multipurpose household polish, I use Peek.

With a background in illustration, I have always loved stories and narrative, especially classic tales and fairy tales.

I'm also a massive fan of nature and animals, so the Jungle Book was the perfect combination to base a collection of jewellery on!

For these earrings, I took the inspiration of Colonel Hathi the elephant in the Jungle Book, and did a series of drawings of elephants before finding the right two! I wanted to give the idea of the little elephant following the big one when the earring are side by side.

I wanted the collection as a whole to be made up of pieces that are beautiful in their own right, with a subtle extra layer of interest for those who choose to look closer. I didn't want their appeal to be solely the drawings or text, but also the construction and materials used to create each item.
