Item details

This long length necklace is handmade from solid brass, clear resin and a fine red silk cord. I have set my own drawing in the resin of Baloo the Bear from the Jungle Book.

There is a lovely weight and satisfying solidity to the pendant itself, and the drawing is suspended in the centre of the clear resin giving the appearance of floating in space.

The cord can be shortened by pulling apart the two gold beads at the top of the cord.

The necklace cord measures 70cm round, hanging 35cm down. The pendant itself measures 19cm diameter, and 7mm depth.

I have always loved stories and narrative, especially classic tales and fairy tales. I studied Illustration at University and this has had a strong influence on my jewellery.

I'm also a massive fan of nature and animals, so the Jungle Book was the perfect combination to base a collection of jewellery on!

I took the story as inspiration and produced simple drawings loosely based on the characters from the book.

This piece is probably my favourite from this range - I wear it a lot!

I wanted the collection as a whole, this necklace included, to be made up of pieces that are beautiful in their own right, with a subtle extra layer of interest for those who choose to look closer. I didn't want their appeal to be solely the drawings or text, but also the construction and materials used to create each item.
