Welcome to my shop where you will find accessories created from vintage and recycled linens, lace and fabrics together with a selection of vintage and upcycled sewing supplies - including vintage lace. Accessories featuring original embroidery, in association with felting, hand dyeing, fabric painting and crazy patchwork may be found in my other shop 'Lynwoodcrafts'.
This glasses case has been entirely hand-stitched. The front of this case has been formed from strip patchwork stitched from vintage beige linens and a selection of lace, ribbon and lace trims from my collection. It has been further embellished by the addition of lace flowers and embroidered leaves - stitched in vintage flax floss.
Strips of beige, damask table linens have been strip patchworked using fabric cut from a recylced shirt as a foundation. The patchwork has been decorated with cream lace and ribbon. White lace flower trimmings have been arranged in a spray design. Hand embroidery in vintage flax has been used to complete the arrangement. The decorated panel has been mounted on a flet backing and blanket stitched around the edge as a finishing. The back of the case is a coffee and cream striped , canvas-type cotton fabric. The case is lined with a cream fabric, backed with iron-on interfacing. The edge of the cover has been finished by hand-stitching in blanket stitch using ivory crochet cotton. The case closes with a button-hole stitch loop over a cream button.
Dimensions (excluding seems):
Depth - 16.8 cm approx
Width - 9 cm approx
I bought a bundle of beige/coffee coloured damask table napkins. Several slightly different colours and different damask designs, they combined well in this strip patchwork, embellished with vintage lace, trimmings and new embroidery in vintage linen thread.
