By night Maud works in the cloakroom, of London's Theatre Royal Haymarket, sadly she is still getting over looked in her daytime auditions. Until one day a casting director spots her and he is looking for an awkward, hopeless romantic, librarian and she is perfect.
Maud is an original handmade doll created from polymer clay, (I do not use molds). The doll is then painted using acrylic paint and the face detail is watercolour and pencil, the hair is mohair. Her dress is made from vintage fabrics. Maud is 24cm tall and can be seated propped up on a shelve.
The dolls I make are fragile and are therefore not suitable for young children as toys.
Being a bit of a magpie and for many years gathering interesting collectables, vintage fabrics, lace, buttons, driftwood and many other items that catch my eye along came my strangely beautiful dolls.
The dolls are all individual pieces of art. They are developed from the depths of my imagination or I am inspired by interesting people that come my way. I find much of my creativity from old fairy tales, children’s book illustrators, film and all that is a bit quirky.
