The pot is hand thrown on a potters wheel in one piece and is completely closed at the top. After the the pot has dried a little the lid is created by pushing the side of the pot wall with a screw driver while turning on the wheel, then the lid is separated by cutting at the base of the indentation using a pin tool. The result is a neatly fitted lid. It is not made with any particular function in mind; its just a nice object.
