I am happy to take commissions and have a large stash of stones and fordite for you to choose from. Since I cut and polish the fordite myself I can cut and set a piece for you to make an extra special item. I also do repairs and alterations just drop me a message.
I ship using Royal Mail's first class signed for service - I aim to ship within 48 hours and it should arrive the day after shipping. I'm happy to post to a work address if there will be no one at home to sign for your package. Should you wish to return an item just let me know within 14 days of receiving it and send it back but you will have to pay the postage for sending it back (I refund the initial postage).
This bar type necklace features a bezel set piece of fordite (aka detroit agate) in a sterling silver chain. Rather than being a straight bar the fordite has a more semi circular shape and a pattern of rings in white, black and sparkly silver with occasional rings of red, characteristic of material from Ford's detroit plant. What's fordite? It's one of my favourite materials because of the story behind it - its layer upon layer of cured car paint that built up on the walls in the old manual spray booths at car factories, each factory seemed to produce material with a different colour palette (which varied with fashions) so if you look at enough of it you can start telling where it has come from (I have material from several different plants now which I cut and polish myself). The way in which cars are painted has changed so this material is no longer formed (it has been described as rarer than diamonds!) so if you like the unusual get yourself some of this before it runs out.
Measures just under 40mm across and 9mm top to bottom whilst the total length is 16 inches. Comes gift boxed.
