This brooch measures 32mm in diameter. It is mounted on a 26mm brooch bar. The pin secures with a rotating catch.
To make the brooch I first built up layers of clear enamel on the copper base, firing each layer separately. I then scattered a pool of white enamel in the centre, added a transparent pink enamel that would be visible when fired with the white, in the centre and a pool of black enamel at the edge. Then while the piece was in the kiln at red hot I drew through the surface, spiralling out from the centre, to create the swirled pattern. The copper base can be seen in tones of golden-brown through the pink and black and there is a hint of the white in the swirl. My hope was that I would achieve a design that would draw the eye into a vortex.
Your brooch will be sent boxed, by Royal Mail tracked48.
