My interpretation of 'The Kiss' by Pablo Picasso, 1925.
Gallery price: £215. From me: £130.
QUOTE: The theme of the couple, omnipresent throughout Picasso's career, became virtually an obsession toward the end of his life. The realism of the tender or violent scenes of kissing couples, usually portrayed without a decor, shows how much importance sexual love had for the artist.
This is a unique glass painting consisting of: powdered glass , frit glass, dichroic glass, glass stringers, and clear bullseye glass. This painting took three firings and a huge amount of time to complete. It was created more for the challenge of doing it and certainly not for the money! If I was to price it on how many hours it took it would be in the region of: £700.
The Kiss is a painting that appealed to me because of its complexities. It was a real challenge to get right!
Each one of my pictures is completely original. They are individually hand-painted to ensure that no two can be the same. It is my love for what I do that drives me to create my pictures. I can never be completely sure how a painting will look when it comes out of the kiln, but it is always a pleasant surprise.
The black wooden frame has picture hooks on the reverse so it ready to hang.
Each picture is signed and dated on the reverse. It is also discretely initialled on the front.
Wooden frame: 41cm x 33cm x 1.5cm
Glass painting: 26cm x 19cm x 3mm
This is new for me and I saw it as a real challenge.
