Welcome to my shop where you will find accessories created from vintage and recycled linens, lace and fabrics together with a selection of vintage and upcycled sewing supplies - including vintage lace. Accessories featuring original embroidery, in association with felting, hand dyeing, fabric painting and crazy patchwork may be found in my other shop 'Lynwoodcrafts'.
A delicately pretty, pastel necklace featuring hand embroidered daisies on fabric and patchwork strips bound round a fabric and fiber 'rope' encased in a knitted sleeve.
The base for this necklace is a knitted tube in fine cream crochet cotton, stretched over a twist of T-shirt yarn with three knitting tapes and a blue and green eyelash yarn. Three embroidered bindings decorate the 'rope'. The central binding is a piece of patchwork produced from printed cottons on an embellisher machine and enhanced with white cotton embroidery. This patch is trimmed with a white crochet lace edging into blanket stitch. The two side panels are torn strips of floral fabric - their edges deliberately left slightly frayed to echo the eyelash yarn fibres teased through the knitted tubing. All three patches feature a hand embroidered, white cotton daisy at the centre. Lengths of knitted tubing, in a cream cotton yarn, complete the necklace, stitched securely to the 'rope', the joins being bound with crocheted lace 'ferules'. The necklace fastens with a crocheted loop over a vintage pearl effect button.
Length: 42.5 cm approx.
Items of textile jewellery cannot be guaranteed to be entirely colour-fast - care should be taken not to get the items wet.
I was experimenting with producing a fine, but very loose, 'cord' on a large 'knitting nancy' using fine cotton thread. I filled the resulting 'cord' with a blend of fancy yarns and set about fashioning the result into this necklace.
