This sewing needle case features some pretty embroidery which I rescued from a vintage cloth.
I used textured white linen for the cover, added a panel of dark red cotton print and then appliquéd the yellow embroidered flowers on the front. I printed the word 'Needles' onto white cotton fabric and added this to the front, together with some vintage style lace and buttons.
There's also an appliquéd patch on the back.
There is a larger button around which you can wind the cream satin ribbon to keep the case closed. There's a little silver tone cone to neaten the end of the ribbon.
It is lined with a cream and beige printed check and there are two pages of white felt to hold needles.
When closed the case measure about 8cm x 11cm. It is slightly stiffened with interfacing and lightly padded with cotton quiter's wadding.
If I find embroidered linen that cannot be restored or repaired, I like to use the salvageable pieces to make new items so that the embroidery can be enjoyed for a while longer.
