Drop earrings featuring large conical silver grey freshwater pearls mounted on my hand crafted ear wires in gold vermeil. These pearls are quite large at 12-13 mm in length and have grown naturally in this unusual shape, which I find fascinating. They are really special, not just because of their size but because they have a very smooth surface and wonderful iridescent lustre that captures the light and returns it many colours, just like the earring in the painting that inspired them. This can be clearly seen in photograph six. There are some very tiny marks on these pearls that are natural and are displayed in the photographs. This is reflected in the price. Gold vermeil is fine silver with a thick gold plating and is usually made in Italy. The earrings themselves measure a total of 32 mm or 1 1/4" in length, they are shown next to a vintage lipstick case in the final photograph in order to give a sense of scale. They are carefully packaged in a black card box fastened with a bow.
