This beautiful little silver rose has been made using the lost wax casting technique. The rose was sculpted in Jewellers's wax, before being encased in a type of plaster. The plaster cylinder is then left overnight in a kiln to burn away the wax leaving a perfect plaster mould. Molten silver is then poured into the mould to form a copy of the original wax model. This technique remains largely unchanged over centuries of casting.
