This wonderful, handmade brooch has been designed and made by us in our workshop in Yorkshire. The technique used is an ancient Korean one, where the gold is heat fused to the silver. Symbols and letters are punched into the sterling silver by hand, making each brooch slightly different and unique. The surface of the brooch is given a worn effect to simulate the look of an antique or an archaeological object. The brooch measures 30mm in diameter.
This bespoke, Keum boo brooch has been coated in a clear, protective, anti-tarnish layer and it comes in one of our quality, branded gift boxes.
Materials, sterling silver, 24 carat gold
Size, 30mm in diameter
This brooch is the largest piece of jewellery in our Keum boo range. The symbols and letters are punched into the metal by hand. We have numerous punches, a lot of them made by John, and letter stamps in various fonts. Every mark that we punch into the surface of the metal will dictate the next one. The aim is to get a pleasing balance and contrast of marks, not too many, not too few. Sometimes it is difficult to know when to stop, if we are not careful we can ruin the piece by making it look too cluttered and over busy.
