The Lamb is truly a mixed media piece, comprising fabric, acrylic paints, graphite pencil, lots of hand stitching and even real sheep's wool, which I collected from the fields surrounding my house. (Don't worry, I boiled the wool beforehand so any nasty things it might have had, were well and truly killed!)
It measures 20 x 50 cms with 4 cms deep edges which are painted and decorated with lace, which I adhered to the canvas using archival acrylic gel medium from the reputable North American brand, Golden Artist Colors.
This piece is a bit more expensive than other similar ones of the same size, due to the amount of hand sewing.
To best appreciate the relief produced from the stitching, this artwork would be best displayed with a light hitting it at an angle, but not necessarily so. It can be hung on a wall, or set on a table easel, or simply propped up against the wall on the mantelpiece or a side table. The choice is yours.
It will be securely wrapped for transit, sent insured and signed for delivery.
Please just send me a message if you have any questions and thanks for looking.
While out walking in the fields one day, I started collecting wool, not really knowing what I`'d do with it, but I had in my head that I wanted to use it as part of a sheep. I made a monotype print a few years ago, now sold, called "Mary had a little lamb," and as I started this piece that image came to mind, but as it was close to Christmas, I decided to add an angel for a touch of magic.
i believe in angels, and while they most probably don't look anything like mine, I am certain that I have been rescued more than once by a divinely sent being. At Christmas, we think of the birth of Jesus Christ, and at Easter we think of him as the Lamb who came as a sacrifice in our place.
