British and Handmade. I love to see what lies inside the wood, come inside and see what I mean ?
A solid brass clock set into a piece of beautiful English ash wood which has been cut to show off the lovely figuring in its grain. The clock, which has a quartz movement and comes complete with battery, measures 35mm in diameter and is removable to facilitate battery replacement. The clock stands 196mm tall, is 83mm across its face, and has a depth of 42mm from front to back. The face, top and bottom of the wood have been finished with beeswax and buffed to a soft sheen.
I wanted to make this piece to illustrate that wood can be beautiful without being turned albeit the sanding does take longer as some is done by hand.. The beauty of the wood is enhanced by the simple, elegant shape. A stylish, functional and versatile piece for any setting, this would make the ideal gift for a man or a woman and would look equally impressive in a work/home office or on a lounge shelf.
