I love to see what lies inside the wood come inside and see what I mean.
An elegant vase turned from delicately figured ash. The vase stands 183mm tall, and 59mm at its widest point. The removable plastic tube liner measures 134mm tall and is 28mm in diameter. The top of the liner sits just below the top of the wooden rim - from the difference between the heights of the wooden vase and the glass liner, you will deduce that the bottom few centimetres of the vase are solid wood: this has been done to give extra stability to the vase when it has flowers in it. The outside has been finished with beeswax for a pleasing shine, and the inside with hard wax oil to help repel accidental water spillage.
At last! A wooden vase which can be used for fresh flowers – sure to be a talking point! Please take care filling the liner as it does not need much water. Although every effort has been taken to give the wood a certain level of resistance to water, any spillages either on the outside or the inside of the wooden vase must be dried immediately – a paper kitchen towel would be ideal.
