As ever my work starts with a combination of a few found pieces of ephemera and a word or two.

This time it was as if it fell in my lap. Having held onto a set of vintage metal stencils for what seemed like years, I was inspired to use them in a collage, this collage coincided with my eldest daughters birthday.

As a father it seems impossible to imagine my daughters without thinking of 'Love' first and foremost, and so a collage was born.

"Love"

I shot an arrow into the air
It never managed to hit the ground
Catching love on it's way
Still flying, still catching.

She was first, she was a lesson
Thereafter I knew I was a student
Schooled and humbled in equal measure.

I breathed a song into the air
It has lasted for more than 18 years
It's sound is love to my heart
It's strength grows

And the song, from beginning to end
An end I will gratefully miss
Knowing it's future is filled
With as much struggle and joy
As in equal measures
Life giving symmetry.
