This is an unusual pendant made from an Orthoceras fossil. These fossils date from the Silurian Age, some 400 plus million years ago! This one is from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
The pendant measures approx 6cms long by 1.5cms across at its widest point and comes supplied on a brown leather cord.
I made the setting from jewellery clay, which was given a subtle shimmer effect before firing and glazing.
A turquoise cabochon detail was also added into the setting.
My jewellery is fairly robust and easy to wear but I recommend that you don't swim or shower while wearing it.
Orthoceras were among one of the earliest forms of life and are thought to have been intelligent.
Traditionally they have been worn to assist with low energy and tiredness.
They represent the light after the darkness, increasing confidence and balancing emotions.
