Challis Booties - A comfy cross between a slipper and a bootie with a hidden elasticated ankle which helps them not to slip off little feet.
All the seams in these booties are have been cleverly hidden between the exterior and the lining.

No special equipment or skills are needed to produce these. I prefer to let the fabrics I use speak for themselves but they could be easily decorated to your personal taste.

The pattern is for booties in 4 sizes (external measurements when finished):
0-3 months (11 cm heel to toe)
3-6 months (12 cm heel to toe)
6-9 months (13 cm heel to toe)
9-12 months (14 cm heel to toe)
A tutorial with photographs is also included for download.

Pattern Details:
Computer drafted for accuracy.
This pattern can be printed from Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download) at Actual Size on A4 or US letter paper. Do not scale to fit page.

You will need:
13” x 8” (min for 9-12m size) outer fabric
7” x 3.5” (min for 9-12m size) sole fabric
9” x 14” (min for 9-12m size) lining fabric
Elastic (per shoe)
0-3 months - 4.5in / 3-6 months – 5in / 6-9 months – 5.5in / 9-12 months – 6in

Project time – less than 1 hour

I found when my 2 children were babies that there were very few pairs of booties or socks that would stay on their little feet. Unfortunately for them I barely had time to brush my teeth let alone do any sewing so this pattern wasn't developed until they were at school.

Most baby booties either looked good or were functional so I wanted to find a way to incorporate an elasticated ankle without affecting the design of the exterior of the bootie. And I succeeded!

These have been tested on my friends babies and I have had some very good feedback in my Etsy shop so now I have decided to share my pattern.
