Not so much inspiration as aspiration in a case like this.
The pink enamel is transparent and shows its colour when it is fired over white. When I scrolled it I had to try to get it over the white to get the effect I hoped for.
Because the enamel sets unevenly there is a ridged texture across the brooch where the enamel has been disturbed and set before it could flow flat. This effect is especially noticeable on this piece, probably because of the work I had to do with the pink and white. The effect adds to the way the light and shadow plays on the surface of the brooch.
