She watches the sea, her lover lost to the ferryman of souls, sailing up the Timarov.
Concept publicity artwork for a play by Elena Bolster called 'Beast'.
Printed as an open edition, each print will be slightly different due to the nature of the printing process. The ink is mixed by hand in small batches so some variation in tone/coverage may occur. These 'imperfections' are common with printmaking, often a result of the idiosyncrasies of the press they're printed on.

As well as my printmaking I am also a stage designer. A few years back I was designing the set and costumes for a small show for the White Bear Theatre in S.London entitled Beast by Elena Bolster. It was about Egon Schiele and his young muse Valie who met during a party aboard a boat before embarking on a passionate love affair. The rich language was thick with nautical imagery and when it came to designing the publicity I made this print. It didn't get used in the end but I was pleased with the piece itself.
