In the month of May, the surrounding country lanes turn white with cow parsley in full blossom. Their delicate petal heads in their sculptural shapes inspired me to create these earrings.
Each piece has been hand printed with an individual flower and hand decorated. The earrings have been finished with a crackle effect glaze for a vintage look.
They are suspended on sterling silver hooks.
Each piece will be carefully tissue wrapped and sent in a gift box (even if it is a gift to yourself!)
I collect natural finds and plant specimens on my walks which I then use in my ceramic jewellery making.
First I texture and shape the clay and let it dry. Then I soften the edges on each piece to ensure they feel nice when worn on the skin. When this is all done I bisque fire the pieces in a kiln.
Once bisque fired, they are ready for glazing. Depending on the design, I paint each piece with underglaze and apply two to three coats of top glaze. Then everything can go in the kiln again for the final high temperature firing.
Once I have got all of the components, I start assembling individual pieces of jewellery. Sometimes I include other materials such as natural sea shells or carve my own beads from interesting pieces of wood.
My jewellery is made with sterling silver or surgical steel, I also use suede and hemp cord for necklaces.
I enjoy every step in the making process and hope that people will get the same joy from wearing one of my pieces.
