The title of this print is Willow

This is a traditionally made woodcut print. The image has been created from an original drawing and then hand carved onto the wooden plate.

It is printed a two colour print made from two separate woodblock plates and printed onto cream Japanese fine quality hand made paper.

Using the traditional woodcut technique, the ink is hand rolled onto the carved plate and then rubbed through - (burnished) onto the paper.

Each print is unique and individual, due to the hand burnished process there are slight variations - no two are the same.

The wood block has been carved by myself.

The size of the image is 76.5 cm x 58 cm with approximately 2 to 3 cm to the deckled edge of the paper.

The edition number of the print is written on the bottom left of the print and it is signed on the bottom right next to the personalized red stamp with my logo carved out of marble.

The print is from an edition of 60

The print will be rolled in acid free tissue paper and rolled into a study tube for postage which will be signed for.

My inspiration draws upon the fleeting moments in nature. I had begun a series of water themed prints and began to make drawings from the willow tree in my mothers garden. The constant change in the pattern on the surface of the water inspired this print. The way the shadows of the willow leaves shot and twirled different shapes across the water and the changing light and reflections I found captivating.
