BRITISH AND HANDMADE
INDIVIDUAL TURNED ITEMS WHICH REVEAL THE TRUE BEAUTY OF WOOD, COME INSIDE AND SEE WHAT i MEAN !
An elegantly shaped trinket box turned from beech (the box) and sycamore (the lid) and enhanced by a Celtic knot design pyrographed on the lid. Pyrography is litererally “fire writing” and has been done by my wife with a solid point pyrography machine, which allows subtle shading. The box stands 70mm tall (complete with lid) and the lid is 100mm in diameter at its widest point. The piece has been waxed and buffed to a soft sheen.
Another of my wife’s forays into Celtic art – she informs me that it is much more difficult to draw a Celtic knot than you would think, but I think her appetite for these fascinating patterns has been whetted, and I think she now enjoys doing them!
