This hand worked Dorset button is a traditional crosswheel yarrell design which is formed by the characteristic ridged rounds worked at the centre of the button.
It is worked on a 32mm diameter brass ring using an ecru coloured cotton thread. The button is finished on the back with a hand worked stitched bar so that it can be attached to a garment or alternatively it could be made into a brooch by the addition of a fastening on the reverse.
The button is machine washable so therefore does not require removal from the garment before laundering.
The button is supplied mounted on a card which has some information about the history of the Dorset button heritage on the reverse.
Bringing Dorset button making to contemporary usage.
