You are purchasing a voucher for one person to attend a Half Day Handmade Pen Turning Course. Each session will have a maximum of 4 people, Suitable for students, couples or individuals from 9 years to 90 years. (Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult) Learn the basics of wood turning while making your very own hand crafted pen. Under the guidance of our skilled instructors you will use hand tools and machinery to create a personalised wooden pen.
Choose your materials from our range of native or exotic timber and pen mechanisms, decide on your pen profile to best suit your personal needs and then turn the parts into your unique pen.
You will be marking out, drilling, gluing and machining the pen body to match your design before sanding and polishing it to a professional finish.
Using our specialised jigs and clamps you will assemble all of the parts to complete your unique pen which, if looked after, will last for many years.
The emphasis is on having a rewarding and enjoyable experience but as this is a workshop environment certain Health and Safety provisions must be made.

Pen making is an ideal introduction to wood turning and producing your own unique pen with your own hands gives a real and lasting sense of achievement.
In the workshop we wait for the “Oh wow” and watch for the growing smile from our clients when their seemingly ordinary lump of wood gradually reveals its true beauty and tactility in their hands.

A handmade pen makes a wonderful gift for someone special. But be warned, some people have become so attached to their first pen that another visit to the workshop is needed to make the gift. Or alternatively they give the gift of a pen making craft session so the special person can make their own unique pen.

Course dates and times are subject to availability by negotiation but we do endeavour to cater for our customers requirements wherever possible. Please contact Grandad's Workshop to confirm bookings and to discuss any additional needs to allow us to make your workshop experience a day to cherish. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits are always available. We are wheelchair friendly subject to individual assessment.

Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
