'Home' is a stag who holds a beautiful nest in his antlers. If you would like to see the original sketch and work in progress for this painting, please do click through to my instagram via the blog link on my shop homepage. There is also a short story inspired by this painting in my instagram. A copy of the story will be sent with the painting.

I loved painting lots of detail in this painting - patterned ears, subtle raindrops in the background, a curling foliage pattern around the edge of the oval, an ivy garland and a nest of flowers and feathers! I also used some gold and silver paints that I think bring a precious and magical feeling to the painting, and compliment the moonlit setting.

'Home' is painted on to a wooden oval that measures 20 cm x 25 cm and is 3 mm thick. The painting is varnished and there's a hook on the back ready for hanging, or if you would prefer to frame the painting, the hook can be easily removed.

This painting began from looking at photos of stags who have amassed tangled twigs and leaves in their antlers. I liked the idea of flora and fauna merging. When I began painting, I imagined a story around the painting that then influenced its detail - in the story Elgin struggles to find a place to belong due to his white fur and how he resists the use of his antlers for aggression. White stags have gathered much symbolism from various cultures and are perhaps best known as a symbol of purity.
