This Guernsey jumper has been hand-knitted in the traditional 5ply worsted wool.
The close-knit texture of the fabric, and the yarn used means this jumper will resist strong sunshine, salt water, sea air and biting winds, making it ideal for anyone involved with the sea or outdoor activities. The pattern also includes the traditional underarm and neck gussets which provide the wearer with ease of movement.
The patterned yoke contains motives representing the sea, fishermen's nets and fish. The patterns used in these garments were often associated with a particular area or family. Similar jumpers were worn all round the coast of the British Isles and were called 'guernseys', 'ganseys' or 'knit frocks' depending on the location.
The colour used for this jumper is Falmouth Navy. This is a navy blue with a slight hint of green.
This Guernsey would fit a 42 inch to 44 inch chest (107cm to 112cm). Guernsey jumpers are not meant to be worn too loose.
Chest:- 46inches (118cm)
Length to shoulder:- 26.5 inches (67cm)
Arm length (neck to wrist):- 28 inches (71cm)
The guernsey should be washed by hand using a ‘delicate fabric’ detergent. It may then be given a short spin and should be dried flat away from bright sunlight.
Please note that the colour accuracy may vary according to individual computer screens.
