Each bar contains vegetable glycerin for its moisturising attributes, a substance largely removed from commercial soaps as it has more value for the big commercial manufacturers as an additive in other products they make.

Ultra rich, SLS and Parabens free, relaxing, luxuriant and skin friendly glycerin soap with Santalum album essential oil for a rich spicy woody fragrance tempered with just a hint of vanilla planifoliumn to soften its sometimes harsher notes when hot. Sandalwood doesn't smell very much until it reaches body heat and then can be quite intense. In a hotter atmosphere it can become overwhelming. A touch of vanilla softens its chords under these circumstances.

Exotic Sandalwood - also called Chandana. I have often been disappointed in Sandal where the cheaper leaf derived santalum spicata from Australia has been sold as the CITES registered and critically endangered and sweeter Santalum album from India or Africa. Its not at all the same - very nice but has no real depth. I wanted to make a soap that reflects the REAL depths of Sandalwood.

Sandalwood can only legally be bought at Government auction in India, in Mysore. It is too often poached in that country which is why it is still on the endangered list but it is ethically and legally available in small quantities which I am able to take advantage of. It is expensive however hence the price of the bar of soap.

I now have customers who use their as yet unused bars to scent their linen and bedding storage before using the bar in the bathroom. Its apparently very effective even if not the original intention
