The mirror is hand decorated in gorgeous abalone Paua shells, which are exclusive to New Zealand. The shell belongs to the abalone family. Each mirror is totally unique as are the shells, flaunting colours of blues, greens, purple, and pink tones, being enhanced by sunlight. It will definitely be a talking point for anyone who sees it. To add contrast I have placed pieces of slate.
I have worked with Paua shells for many years. I started by making jewellery and progressed to mirrors. I always admire the shells and their fabulous natural colours.
The mirrors are decorative items which are fragile.
Mirror base is mdf, measuring 15" X 15"

After seeing the wonderful colours that are naturally produced, I fell in love with the Paua shell and started making jewellery. I wanted to extend my skills and embarked on a City and Guilds in silversmithing 10 years later, I am still attend a weekly leisure class for silversmithing. The mirrors just evolved through my love of the shell. I do incorporate other natural materials. I have several large mirrors within my home which are admired by myself and other folks.
