Item details

Hand decorated in vibrant abalone Paua shells, slate and sea glass. The shells are unique to New Zealand, and part of the Abalone family. The sea glass was sourced from beaches in Cornwall. The mirror will be a talking point for anyone who sees it. Each mirror is totally unique as are the shells, which flaunt colours of blue, green, purple, pink tones to the mirror. This mirror has tusks of Paua shells, creating a rustic look. The sun will bring the shells to life projecting many colours.

I have worked with Paua shells for many years now, making jewellery and mirrors and never become bored of the splendour of colours in these shells.

The mirrors are fragile and meant as decoration pieces only.

The mirror is base is MDF

After seeing the wonderful colours that are naturally produced I started to make jewellery, from this I wanted to be able to extend my skill, so I started evening classes and completed a City and Guilds in silversmithing. I still attend weekly leisure classes for silversmithing. In my spare time I became inspired once again by the Paua shell and started to decorate mirror edges, I do use other materials, which are all natural and either sourced from the beach or sea. I have several large mirrors within my home and I never tire of admiring them. Everyone who has seen them has fallen in love with them.
