British and handmade . I love revealing the hidden beauty inside wood come inside and see what I mean.
Beautiful vase in exquisitely figured Sycamore (from whichever view is showing) turned to a modern shape. It has an added feature of a triple bead around the centre which has been stained green which contrasts the grain beautifully. The vase has a glass liner so that it can hold real flowers. It stands 188mm tall and is 65mm at its widest point, while the liner is 140mm tall and 30mm wide. After turning it has been sanded and then buffed to a soft sheen with beeswax; the inner has been finished with hard wax oil to give some water repellent properties.
At last! A wooden vase which can be used for fresh flowers – sure to be a talking point! Please take care filling the glass liner as it does not need much water. Although every effort has been made to give the wood a certain level of resistance to water, any spillages either on the outside or the inside of the wooden vase must be dried immediately – a paper kitchen towel would be ideal.
