This is a print of a large oil painting of the underbelly of a horse. It was originally hung on the roof to give the impression of a horse falling towards you from above.
Original painting size 5 ft x 4ft
Print size A4
'Underbelly' is inspired by cave art. He was the main piece in my Solo show at the Outbye Gallery, Pittenweem, 2011 and was the featured horse in the international theatre production of 'Blood and Roses' by Scottish company Poorboy. This was a collaboration work with Writer/director Sandy Thomson, who was inspired to write a horse into her play, after visiting my studio. She saw Underbelly and my other drawings and created a Russian prince horse called 'Falada' into her epic piece of audio play. The play received 4 star reviews in the Herald, Scotsman and various other reviews. It went on to win funding from Made in Scotland and was restaged and showcased as representing Scotland at the 2011, IETM at the Fringe festival.
