A lovely handmade cushion cover featuring my own unique puffin design. Each colour on the puffin has been individually handprinted using hand-cut stencils and acrylic paints mixed with textile medium.

The cover itself is sewn from ‘upcycled’ fabric (50% cotton, 50% polyester). I love finding new uses for old materials, and this lovely light blue / greenish blue fabric gives the cover a soft, lightweight finish. The puffin design has been heat-set so the cover can be washed on a cool, gentle wash, and ironed on the reverse.

This cover measures approximate 15.5” x 16” and takes a cushion pad of around 15” (NOT INCLUDED). There is a hidden dark grey zip closure at the top, and the design is printed only on the front of the cushion.

Please note that as this is a handprinted design on recycled material, minor variations and imperfections may occur, including in the fabric itself – this is just part of the unique charm of a handmade gift! Every one of my handprinted cushions is made individually and therefore each one is a unique one-off.

Everyone loves a puffin! They’re one of my favourite seabirds, and I’ve been lucky enough to watch these ‘clowns of the sea’ on Skomer Island in Wales and on the Farne Islands, off Northumberland. This print was based on one of my photographs from Skomer, and each colour has been printed separately by hand.

I love the colours in a puffin’s beak. Amazingly, though, they shed the colourful outer parts of this comical beak after they finish breeding, and regrow it again the following year!
