This shelf was upcycled from a discarded drawer set and some butterfly-themed vinyl material and it looks so cute!

The shelf features large butterfly illustrations on the back, side, and top inner surfaces, as well as on the sides of the outer surface. The base is black and the top is white.

This item is quite versatile, as it can be a freestanding unit on a desk, table, other shelf, or mantel, or can easily be hung on the wall. It's a great way to showcase items such as vases, candles, and bottles, or to just hold some books in a pretty setting.

The second drawer in the set can be made to match the first, or I can customise it to your specifications. Here are some of my ideas for the second drawer shelf:

--Use scraps of wrapping paper or magazine to create a paper mosaic or collage design on the walls
--Tile the lower shelf with multicoloured tesserae and use a complementary fabric for the walls
--Add hooks on the walls for necklaces, rings, and bracelets
--Create a diorama scene utilising the base, walls, and ceiling
--Or whatever you can come up with!

I found this drawer and its mate along with part of an Ikea drawer insert set by a bin in Brighton. It seemed to be missing a part or two, so couldn't be used for its intended purpose. But I thought the size of the drawers would help make them perfect for upcycling. With the addition of some cute material as a background, the drawer makes a fantastic little shelf. I welcome new ideas for the second drawer!
