This is a pretty pendant necklace made from different shades of purple amethyst beads. The amethysts are attached to a silver plated trace train measuring approximately 18" and fastens with a lobster claw clasp into a silver plated extension chain, this means that the necklace can be worn at a maximum of 20". The ends of the extension chain are decorated with two amethyst beads. The amethyst nugget has an approximate size of 1cm and is hung of a piece of decorative scroll work. The pendant part of the necklace has a drop of approximately 2.7cm.
The necklace will arrive in a presentation box.
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and the most valued member of the quartz family. It must be purple to be amethyst, but it can display a range of shades including deep purple, light lilac, lavender and mauve. Top quality amethyst is a deep medium purple with rose-coloured flashes.
Most amethyst gemstones on sale today are heat-treated to produce a deeper colour. Heat treating is permanent and these stones will not fade over time.
Amethyst is the official birthstone for February. It is also the birth stone for the Zodiac sign of Pisces. Amethyst is suggested as a gem to give on the 4th, 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
