A handmade beaded bouquet.

I made this beautiful French beaded rose bouquet using Japanese seed beads in 'crystal rainbow' to reflect the light. Each bead was 'threaded' onto the silver plated wire before being formed into the rose petals.

There are six roses in the bouquet, three full roses and three rosebuds. Each petal has also been laced at the back with thinner wire to secure the beads in place on the petal.

Each rose takes over 8 hours to make and the sepals alone have over 2000 beads!

The stem of the bouquet has been wrapped with white satin ribbon.

Lots of cups of tea drank, in order to complete this bouquet.

For a bride who wants something beautiful and long lasting. A truly beautiful heirloom of the future!

I bought a book on French beaded flowers and fell in love with the roses.
I then decided to make a bridal bouquet made up of them. Due to the weight of the full flowers, I made three full roses and three rosebuds.
It took several hours to thread the beads on and make the individual petals. These were then laced at the back of the petals with thinner wire, to give them strength and make the seeds stay in position. I think that the effort was worth it.
Several cups of tea later and the bouquet was finished.
I made sepals for the base of each flower and after arranging them into a bouquet, the stems were hidden with satin ribbon.
I paid a fortune for fresh flowers at my own wedding, which were dead within a week. Had I learnt to make French beaded flowers before this, I would still have them with me as a reminder of my special day....possibly as an heirloom to be passed on to future brides in my family!
