Natalie creates mixed media pieces based upon her own observations and interactions with horses. She begins with a wire armature and gradually layers up carded sheep's wool to create the bulk of the animal. Most of Natalie's sculptures are then mounted upon a reclaimed wooden base.

Eric is based upon a riding school pony that Natalie knew at the first riding school she attended from the age of 6. He was one of the younger ponies and was not initially used for novice riders. He was prone to becoming a little over weight and so he spent some time in a stable on a diet. As a result, when let out into the field, he was usually quite excited about it!

As a young girl, the sight of him being let into the field and exploding with joy, galloping, bucking and rearing was something magical
