This is a beaded Amethyst and Agate necklace in shapes of purple. The necklace is 18" in length but has a 5cm extension chain, meaning that the necklace is adjustable and can be worn between 18"-20"
The tassel part of the necklace makes the necklace appear longer as the tassel part measures an approximate 7cm in drop.
The large barrel bead is made from agate and the remaining beads are amethyst and are a variety of shapes, styles and sizes. The necklace is finished with chain which gives a more comfortable feel around the neck rather than heavy beads. The amethyst beads are interspersed with silver plated bead caps and spacer beads.
The necklace comes in a presentation box.
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and the most valued member of the quartz family. It must be purple to be amethyst, but it can display a range of shades including deep purple, light lilac, lavender and mauve. Top quality amethyst is a deep medium purple with rose-coloured flashes.
Most amethyst gemstones on sale today are heat-treated to produce a deeper colour. Heat treating is permanent and these stones will not fade over time.
Amethyst is the official birthstone for February. It is also the birth stone for the Zodiac sign of Pisces. Amethyst is suggested as a gem to give on the 4th, 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
