BRITISH AND HANDMADE
INDIVIDUAL TURNED ITEMS WHICH REVEAL THE TRUE BEAUTY OF WOOD, COME INSIDE AND SEE WHAT i MEAN !
A satisfyingly chunky wooden pot for pens or pencils, turned from a beautiful piece of holly. The pot stands 110mm tall and at the widest point of the curve it is about 100mm in diameter. It is finished inside and out with beeswax which gives a soft sheen and a lovely, silky smooth texture. There are two features in the pot which are a result of knot formation, and one of these also has a split. It really adds interest to the item and to the beauty of the wood, and helps the pot retain a close connection with the tree – note how the growth rings around and away from the knots are visible. The knots and split are stable.
This would make a lovely gift for any home office (bringing a touch of holly-wood glamour!) or to keep a growing collection of colouring pens/pencils/brushes in, in line with the “Mindfulness” trend, which seeks to help ease stress, a subject I have been all too familiar with in the past. [Please note that the colouring book and pens/pencils pictured are not included].
