BRITISH AND HANDMADE . WOODTURNED ITEMS TURNED TO HIGHLIGHT THE FIGURE AND GRAIN, NOW SOME WITH ENAMELLED CABOUCHONS FOR EXTRA INTEREST, COME INSIDE AND HAVE A LOOK.
Bowl turned from beautifully figured sycamore complete with three turned acorns in English oak. The bowl measures 142mm in diameter and stands 42mm tall, while the acorns range from 70mm to 76mm in length and have a diameter of between 35mm and 40mm at their widest points. The bowl has been finished with beeswax and buffed to a soft sheen to enhance its delicate colour and markings, and the acorns have been lacquered.
The delicate colouring and figuring of the sycamore provide a lovely, contrasting setting for the variety of colours in the oak acorns. The shells of the acorns have been hand textured, and the stalks hand carved, and they are further enhanced by the addition of a burnt band. Overall, a chance to own a selection of two of nature’s most beautiful woods in one lovely package!
