This lino print was based on a Cornish Myth about a nymph, Tamara, who befriended two giants and was turned into a river by her angry father. The two giants also became rivers so that they could be with her. One runs alongside that of Tamara and one followed the wrong path and flows far away from her. The print shows all three rivers with subtle outlines of three figures and Tamara dissolving in tears to become a river. The background of the image is stained with tea, so that it gives the impression of an antique map.

The image itself measures 190x140mm (in its mount). It is in a white mount with outer dimensions of 253x202mm. Packaged in cellophane ready for framing or to give as a gift.

I re-discovered my love of printmaking in 2013, having enjoyed learning some techniques at Art Foundation some time before. I soon realised my main passion was for lino printing and I began creating bold designs and looking at how texture affects my work.

I love Cornwall and visit regularly. There are some fantastic place to visit, with lots of history, and many also have legends associated with them. I find it interesting to read the myths and was inspired to create a print from the Legend of Tamara.
