This lino print was inspired by my love of the seaside and regular trips to the coast. The sea gull is an emblem of the seaside and the swirling sea behind completes the picture. I have printed onto stripy paper, which reminds me of the Punch and Judy tent, deckchairs, sticks of rock and many things associated with the seaside.
The image itself measures 115x155mm with a small border around the edge. Presented in cellophane packaging, ready for framing or giving as a gift.
This print would look fantastic in a coastal home or in a room with a nautical theme.
It would also make a wonderful gift for someone who lives by the sea or who loves seaside holidays.
I re-discovered my love of printmaking in 2013, having enjoyed learning some techniques at Art Foundation some time before. I soon realised my main passion was for lino printing and I began creating bold designs and looking at how texture affects my work.
My regular trips to the coast often inspire my work. I was sat looking out at the sea and a seagull came and stood on a fence in front of me, and the picture summed up the seaside nicely for me.
