I have always been a maker.
During the school years I drew, painted in oils and watercolour and made clay sculptures and pots. When I wasn’t making I was reading about artists, ground breakers like Cezanne, Matisse and Picasso in particular, and more recently Andy Warhol.
I didn’t treat myself to an art education, apart from A level art. After school, I went to Liverpool University and left with an honours degree in Zoology and Industrial Studies with a vague notion of teaching.
Then it happened in 2004.
At 46, I took a year off paid work and enrolled on a full time art foundation course at Derby College. In 2014 I started again and did a screen printing course at Green Door Printmaking Studio. Very slowly, on days off, the prints emerged.
