This shimmering butterfly motif was too pretty to sew onto jeans, so I turned it into a fascinator instead. I’ve teamed it with vintage silk that has been tie-dyed in blue and lilac colours. The silk has been sewn onto turquoise blue tulle and finished off with some contrasting buttons and beads.

This is a very pretty comb fascinator that would look great with a wedding outfit or for a summer party.

I love motifs for helping to customise your clothes and make them a bit different, although I couldn't bring myself to sew this butterfly one to a pair of jeans as it was just too pretty.

Instead I used it as inspiration for a fascinator. I teamed it with coordinating silk, tulle, buttons and beads and sewed them all onto a comb to make a very pretty hair accessory. I love using an item such as this to build a fascinator around, that's the most fun bit about making them to me!
