Item details

This is a unique piece of textile art. I paint on white silk habutai then add applique, machine stitching and hand stitching, which you can see in the close-up image. The whole piece is then backed with cotton fabric and finished with large beads hung at the bottom.

The hanging is treated with a fabric protector so is easy to keep clean with an occasional dusting with a soft brush.

There are D-rings at the back of the hanging, making it easy to hang straight onto two picture pins.

The maximum measurements of this cheery hanging are width 325mm, length 430mm.

With its unique style, my work looks at home in contemporary or traditional settings.

Wallhangings are rolled in bubblewrap and sent by Evri. As I suffer from post-viral fatigue I allow 5 working days for posting, but it is often less.

I have my postage dates set to within 5 working days because I suffer from occasional bouts post-viral fatigue. However, I rarely suffer severe bouts these days and can usually post within one or two days. If your purchase is urgent, e.g. for a birthday, feel free to message me to check when it can be posted.

My textiles work is inspired primarily by colour. I love to see shocking contrasts, subtle differences and all combinations in between. Texture is important too and I've never put my textiles work behind glass. In this hanging texture is added with applique, ribbons, embroidery, beads and sequins.

Most of my work is on natural themes, with a touch of humour. Chickens seem to be very popular and I've made several pieces featuring them. (One of my most popular pottery ranges also features my quirky chickens.)

I wanted to put this chicken in a garden full of bright colours and only as I was working on the flowers did I realise they had a seventies feel to them! Hence - Retro Chicken.
