This is a monocast, which is a one off plaster cast made from wild flowers found at Creswell Crags,in Nottinghamshire. The plants are used to make a mould from which a plaster cast is made. due to the nature of this work, each piece is uniquely different from any other piece. After casting the item is then hand painted.

The piece can be hung from the wall or laid flat as a tile. Whilst the plaster is hard wearing, care does need to be taken as it does have a certain amount of fragility.

I had been working on a series of prints using Creswell Crags as my inspiration when I decided I wanted to try and use plaster casts of the plants to print from. I found the process of printing redundant when I saw what I could achieve by simply using the plants to create a cast.
