I have loved trees for many years, and painting them just felt natural. Trees seemed to appear in whatever I was sketching or painting, even when I attempted to be more abstract! Each tree has always had hearts, and each of them carries some emotion and often a sentiment. It seemed a natural progression to add words and make them a lovely little affordable gift!
